PURI WULANDARI
UBUD, BALI
The Balinese have a philosophy called Tri Hita Karana — 'the three causes of well-being.' Harmony with the divine. Harmony with nature. Harmony among people. Not as aspirations. As architecture. As the literal blueprint for how a place is built, how it breathes, how it holds you.
At Puri Wulandari, this isn’t a concept written on a welcome card.
It’s in the alang-alang grass rooftops that age with the seasons. In the teak and stone that never pretend to be anything other than what they are. In the way the villas open entirely to the jungle — no glass wall to soften it, no filter between you and the valley — because the philosophy doesn’t believe in the separation. In the flower offerings placed quietly at the entrance each morning before you’ve even woken up. In the Lila Ulangun Spa, where the treatments don’t borrow from Balinese healing tradition — they are the tradition.
This is a resort built not around luxury as a product, but around harmony as a way of life.

SENETAN VILLAS
Payangan Village, Gianyar · Ubud, BALI
Archetype: The Sovereign Heart (The Ruler × The Innocent — royal lineage meets the intimacy of coming home)
In old Balinese, senetan means kitchen — the most beloved room of the Payangan Royal Palace, where the family gathered, laughed, and fed one another. That etymology is everything. Because Senetan Villas, owned by the descendants of that same royal house and hidden in the rainforest highlands north of Ubud, is not a resort that performs grandeur. It is a place that nourishes. Private villas with floor-to-ceiling windows looking out onto unbroken jungle. Pools that belong entirely to you. A spa rooted in ancient Indonesian ritual. A restaurant that grows what it serves. Afternoon tea with Balinese snacks, arriving unrequested, every day. The archetype at work here is rare — part sovereign, part hearth: a property of genuine royal lineage that has never forgotten that the most powerful thing a host can do is make a guest feel, completely and without effort, at home.

THE Intercontinental
PHUKET, THAILAND
Archetype: The Magician (The property that doesn't reference mythology — it physically enacts it)
Most luxury resorts gesture toward the culture of their place. InterContinental Phuket Resort went further — it built Thai cosmology in concrete, water, and light. Designed by Bangkok's award-winning Habita Architects on Kamala Beach, the resort is a spatial retelling of the Traibhumikatha — the oldest surviving Thai text, a Buddhist cosmological epic describing three realms of existence. The guest doesn't read about these realms. They move through them. The beachside pool mirrors the Underwater World, where Naga the serpent winds from the sea through a subterranean tunnel toward the Human World lobby. From there, the sacred path rises past silver mosaic walls — the sky above reflected so precisely in the water below that you feel you are walking on clouds — toward the Sawan Pavilion: heaven, rendered in white and silver, floating above lotus ponds, surrounded by the mythical Himmapan Forest at the boundary of earth and sky. The resort holds Two MICHELIN Keys — the world's only InterContinental property to do so. At the summit of this mythology sits hom — a MICHELIN Guide-recommended restaurant and one of Tatler Asia's 100 Best in Asia

HILTON GARDEN INN, bALI
Archetype: The Host (The brand that finds its highest expression in the art of welcome)
Opened in 2025 on the quiet peninsula of Tanjung Benoa, the Hilton Garden Inn Bali Nusa Dua is that kind of property. Brand new, immaculately considered, and staffed by a team whose warmth is not a hospitality script but a genuine reflex. Suites spacious enough to actually live in — a full living room, a desk that works, a bathroom and a half — for the traveller who needs Bali to be both a destination and a base. The pool. The gym. The white sand of Tanjung Benoa a short walk away. The archetype here is The Host — the property that measures itself not by spectacle but by how completely it removes every friction between you and a very good stay.
Tanjung Benoa, Nusa Dua · Est. 2025

There is a particular kind of excellence that never announces itself — it simply makes you feel, from the moment you arrive, that everything has been thought of.

The Suites are generously sized, with their one and a half bathrooms and spacious livingroom, they are truly feel like home away from home.

Here you have a choice of taking a quick shuttle to the hotel's private white sand beach, or lounging at the pool.

Together & Co. feeds you well morning and night, with Balinese signature dishes that ground the international menu in the island's own flavour.
BLUE KARMA VILLAS
UMALAS, BALI - MICHELIN-RECOMMENDED
Archetype: The Mystic (The private world that transforms — hidden, intentional, held by ancient forces)
At the end of a narrow country road, between the creative energy of Canggu and the languid luxury of Seminyak, there is a gate. Behind it: private villas connected by a secret passage, each one a world entirely its own. Built from antique carved Javanese teak in the Joglo tradition, adorned with indigenous Indonesian art, shaped according to the principles of feng shui and watched over by guardian statues placed with purpose, Blue Karma Villas Umalas is not a property you simply stay in. It is one you enter. The rice paddies embrace you from every angle. The semi-open bathrooms dissolve the line between shelter and nature. An in-villa spa therapist restores you. A silent meditation retreat program holds space for whatever it is you came here to release. The archetype is The Mystic — the rare, private world that does not advertise its depth, that reveals itself slowly to those willing to be still, and that sends you home as someone slightly, undeniably different from who arrived.

PORTOFINO, ITALY
Our recent stop in Portofino, Italy was defined by the stunning contrasts of the Ligurian coast. We spent our day capturing the vibrant, sun-drenched palette of the historic port, from the colorful facades lining the coastal curve to the quiet, centuries-old elegance of its hillside churches. The perfect counterpoint to this timeless scenery was found at the Louis Vuitton boutique. Inside, we focused our lens on the sharp, modern artistry of the late Virgil Abloh's collection, referencing his distinct vision through his designs that merged old-world luxury with contemporary, cutting-edge fashion.

THE STONES LEGIAN HOTEL
SEMINYAK, BALI
Archetype: The Hero (The brand that commands its landscape — bold, unapologetic, built to be remembered)
Some hotels find a spot on the beach. The Stones Legian claims one. Anchored at the southern tip of Legian Beach, this Marriott Autograph Collection property announces itself through scale, through architecture, through a cascading vertical garden of tropical plants that covers its facade like a living canvas — Walisongo, Talas, Pakis, drinking in the Bali sun. Inside, geometric volumes integrate traditional Balinese craft with a contemporary boldness that the Autograph Collection was built for: exactly like nothing else. The pool — one of the largest in the area — compliments the ocean. The rooms hold their own. The energy of Legian, one of Bali's most alive coastal corridors, hums just beyond the gate. The archetype is unmistakably The Hero — a property that doesn't negotiate with its environment but meets it at full strength, delivering a stay that earns its Luxury Lifestyle Award not through quietness but through sheer, well-executed conviction.

KARMA KANDARA
ULUWATU, BALI
Perched on the limestone cliffs of Uluwatu, Karma Kandara is where the jungle meets the Indian Ocean and the world below simply falls away. Private three-bedroom villas with their own pools sit above a hidden white sand beach — reachable only by funicular — framed by some of the most extraordinary turquoise water in Bali. We select locations for what they do to you upon arrival, not just how they look. Karma Kandara interrupts the pattern. The cliffs, the ocean, the quality of the silence — this is where people come to stop recovering from their lives and start living them again.

MARRAKECH, MOROCCO
Step into the art-infused, color-saturated world of Marrakech through our lens, where we captured the street art of Gueliz & the vibrant heartbeat of the city within Riad Yima. This collection showcases the artistic sanctuary of the legendary Hassan Hajjaj, focusing on the sensory explosion and layered design of his concept store and gallery. Our imagery does more than photograph a space; it bottles the eclectic energy, the intricate details, and the genuine sense of place, transforming it into an essential visual experience for any discerning traveler or art lover.

KECHMARA LOUNGE BAR & RESTAURANT
MARRAKECH, MOROCCO
While living in Gueliz, the French quarter of Marrakech, we discovered Kechmara, one of the best cafe restaurant & bars serving delicious French, Moroccan and monthly curated international dishes, DJ nights with global tunes, and as they like to say it Good People, Good Food, Good Vibes. Fine dining with a laid back attitude.

Our time in Gueliz included a visit to Maison ARTC, where designer Artsi Ifrach blends Moroccan tradition with rebellious, upcycled artistry. His commitment to the slow fashion movement, crafting one-of-a-kind pieces from antique textiles, speaks directly to the meaningful design we aim to capture.

rootop penthouse airbnb

This project was a powerful demonstration of how strategic visual storytelling can impact the bottom line.
